		<description>It really seems to drive a point home when you actually have to live through it - a lack of water from a power outage can be a big deal, especially with children in the mix.

I also like the idea of off-site backups of data. It's getting easier and cheaper all the time to back up your computer data, but the hardest part is just getting into the habit of it.</description>

		<description>I've been thinking a lot about this recently, too.  I always have liked stocking up on extra canned goods; it has come in handy in non-threatening "emergencies" (like, what-can-I-make-for-dinner kind of emergencies ;-) ).  

Whenever I finish with a plastic container of juice or pop, I rinse it out good and then store water in it.  I've actually used this before when the power's been out and the water pumps haven't worked.

My husband likes to make sure all our computer data is backed up in a location other than our home, in case we were to lose our home.</description>
